Tribes & Tiger Tour in India

Day 01: New Delhi/Vishakhapatnam: Welcome on arrival (presuming it is early morning) at New Delhi international airport and transfer to a hotel. Rest and site seeing in Delhi: a bicycle rickshaw ride, Gandhi Memorial, Lotus Temple, walk at India Gate with lunch at a restaurant. Transfer to airport to board flight (dep. at1520 hrs) and reach Vishakhapatnam (1730 hrs). Transfer to a hotel. Overnight.

Day 02: Vishakhapatnam/Rayagada (Weekly market on Tuesday). After breakfast we drive (200 kms, 5 hrs drive) to Rayagada en route stop over for panoramic views. After lunch at hotel in Rayagada we will like to have our first exposure to the famed tribal life with an excursion to the Ghantra Tribes who make the Dokra casting in their villages and we like to witness their process. Also visit Desia Kondha tribal market along with a Pottery village. Hotel Tejasvi International or Sai International.

Day 03 : Rayagada/Jeypore (Weekly Market on Wednesday). Morning drive to Chatikona weekly market (40 Kms 01hr drive). We will witness the Dongariya and Desia Kondh people at the Niyamagiri foot hill. It will be a small trekking to the hill to get the private photo as the Dongariya Kondh come down to the market place. Then we will walk to the Chatikona to observe the colourful tribal market. Return the Rayagada (1 hr.) to have lunch. Check out and drive (160 km, 4 hrs) and reach Jeypore in evening. En route visit Muniaka and Bada Paroja tribal villages. Meet and greet the tribal community. Overnight at Jeypore. Hotel Sai Krishna or Hello Jeypore.

Day 04: Jeypore/Onkudeli/Jeypore. (Weekly Market on Thursday) After an early breakfast we drive (160 kms 03 hrs, packed lunch) to Bonda Market for the day long excursion to Onkudeli. Trekking down for getting the private photos of colourful Bonda women. Also we will witness the Gadaba and Didayee tribes who come in a large group to the weekly market. Later walking down to the market place for free movement to get more photos. Experience hiking around the Gadaba villages. Return Jeypore in evening. Overnight.

Day 05: Jeypore/Kunduli/Jagdalpur. (Weekly Market on Friday ) After breakfast we will drive (100 kms, 3hrs drive) to Kunduli to witness the largest Paroja market. Later we will hike around the Paroja and Kui Kondh villages near by the Nandapur area. Lunch at a nice restaurant en route. Drive (130 km, 3.5 hrs) and reach Jagdalpur (via Jeypore) in evening. Stay overnight at the Bastar Jungle Resort, located about 22 km from the city amidst forest.

Day 06: Jagdalpur. (Saturday). We will drive around Bastar (100kms 02.5 hrs drive) to the water fall and the National Park to enjoy , then experience the traditional weaving village at Kotpad and experience an interesting weekly market at Nagarnar. Return Resort for lunch. We will observe the Cock fighting market at Pamela where the Halaba and Bhatra tribes come to the market to sell their indigenous products. Overnight at the Bastar Jungle Resort.

Day 07:Jagdalpur/Kanker (Sunday) After breakfast we will proceed to the Royal Palace in Kanker (150 Kms 03 hrs drive). En route visit weekly market of Gond tribe and visit their villages. Arrive at the Palace and receive the royal welcome by the family member at the Palace. After welcome drinks a brief can be given by the Yobaraj (prince) about the palace, its history and tribal life. Have gala dinner at the Palace. Overnight. (packed lunch).

Day 08: Kanker (Monday) one way 60 kms drive 02 hrs. After breakfast we will have a day long excursion with packed lunch to the Murria tribal village and witness the Gotul (where young boys and young girls stay together in a dormitory to choose their partner and have fun with dance and feast). It is quite interesting to watch their dance in their village (to be organized). Return to the Palace and enjoy bonfire with cocktail dinner. Overnight.

Day 09: Kanker/Kanha. (07 hrs drive 350 kms.) An early morning breakfast and drive to Kanha. Kanha is one of India’s most visited wildlifeparks  and has an excellent tourist infrastructure. It is famous as the best tiger spotting place in India. Wildlife here is more accessible than in many parks in India. Kanha is also famous for its Gaur and the hard-hoofed swamp deer (Barasingha). Check into the jungle resort. We will have the first jeep safari in afternoon (2.30.pm – 6 pm) in Kanha, assisted by the driver and nature guide, both most knowledgeable. Return at sun set. Overnight at Kanha resort.

Day 10 – 11: Kanha. Staying here three nights we will have morning (6.30 – 10 am) and afternoon (2.30 – 6 pm) jeep safaris in the tiger park to visit different ranges and scan the grassland habitats here which offer magnificent sightings from the jeep, often tiger passing by. Overnight.

Day 12: Kanha/Jabalpur/Fly/New Delhi. After our last safari in Kanha in morning today. Check out from Kanha hotel and drive (5 hrs drive 250 km) to reach Jabalpur airport in time to board flight (dep. at 1830 hrs) and reach New Delhi after one and a half hours. Transfer to a hotel. Overnight.

Day 13. New Delhi: After breakfast, transfer to airport to board flight back home. Farewell.
